At Bromley Y, we are committed to continually evolving the interventions and support we provide to ensure they meet the unique needs of every child and young person. Central to this commitment is our ongoing investment in the training and development of our practitioners.
On Tuesday 24th February, colleagues from our Mental Health Support Teams in schools and our Emotional Wellbeing Service came together for a shared training session focused on Affirming Care for Neurodivergent Young People in therapy.
The session provided a valuable opportunity to learn collaboratively and deepen our understanding of the diverse presentations of autistic, ADHD and dyslexic children and young people. It strengthened practitioners’ confidence in adapting therapeutic sessions to meet individual needs, using neuro-affirming language, and recognising both the distinctions and the connections between emotional wellbeing and neurodivergence.
Practitioners were also encouraged to develop a greater appreciation of the key features of neurodivergence and the ways these can impact daily life for the children, young people and families they support in Bromley.
