Supporting Wellbeing Through the Bromley HAF Programme
Bromley Y was delighted to support the London Borough of Bromley’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, delivering a series of interactive wellbeing workshops to children and young people across the borough.
Our practitioners spent a fantastic day at the Spitfire Centre in Biggin Hill and St Edmund’s in Mottingham, and The Link Youth Centre in Orpington where 56 children and young people took part in seven engaging sessions centred around the NHS-endorsed 5 Ways to Wellbeing:
🌟 Connect
🏃 Be Active
📚 Keep Learning
👀 Take Notice
🤝 Give
Young people explored each of these themes by reading the wellbeing prompts, sharing examples of how they already use them in their everyday lives, and discussing simple ways they could do even more. The sessions encouraged children to think about the importance of making positive wellbeing habits part of their daily routines to support both their physical and mental health.
The workshops perfectly complemented the aims of the HAF Programme, which provides healthy meals, enriching activities and free childcare places during school holidays for children and families who may benefit from extra support.
The programme is designed to help children stay active, make new friends, enjoy nutritious meals, build confidence, learn new skills, and return to school feeling happy, refreshed and ready to learn.
It was inspiring to see so much enthusiasm, participation and thoughtful discussion throughout the day, demonstrating just how powerful wellbeing-focused activities can be in helping young people thrive.
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme has supported millions of children and young people across England since 2022, helping them access nutritious food, fun activities and valuable opportunities to support their health, wellbeing and development.
