We are absolutely delighted to share that Bromley Y has been selected as a finalist in the Best Long-Standing Business category at the ABBBA Awards 2026.
“This recognition is particularly special because it celebrates what Bromley Y has always been about: supporting children, young people and families across Bromley with care, compassion and a genuine commitment to helping them thrive. For more than 60 years, we have stood alongside local families through changing times, adapting and growing while staying true to the values that have guided us since 1965.” Louise Wolsey, CEO, Bromley Y
What began as a small project supporting young people who needed someone to listen, has grown into a trusted borough-wide service providing emotional wellbeing support, counselling, mentoring, family support and school-based mental health services. Today, our teams work tirelessly from our central building in Ethelbert Road, across 63 schools and alongside a wide network of partners, staff and volunteers, all united by the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to be heard, understood and supported.
As our awards submission explains:
“We were established because young people needed someone to notice them, listen to them and believe that their futures mattered. More than 60 years later, that purpose remains at the heart of everything we do.”
Being named a finalist is a wonderful recognition of the dedication of our staff, volunteers, trustees, partners and the generations of children, young people and families who have shaped Bromley Y’s journey. It is also a celebration of the trust that local families continue to place in us.
Another message at the heart of our submission reflects why this recognition means so much:
“Our longevity has never come from standing still. It has come from being brave enough to change, humble enough to learn and committed enough to keep showing up for Bromley’s children and young people.”
We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted and would like to thank everyone who has been part of the Bromley Y story over the last six decades.
Whatever happens on awards night, we are honoured to have our work recognised and look forward to continuing to support future generations of children, young people and families across Bromley.
Here’s to celebrating 61 years of impact, community and care, and to the next chapter of the Bromley Y story. 💙
